Chiropodist (Foot Care Specialist)
The practice of Chiropody is the assessment, treatment and prevention of diseases or disorders of the foot by therapeutic, surgical, orthotic and palliative means. An essential member of the integrated professional healthcare team, the Chiropodist is skilled in assessing the needs of our clients and of managing both chronic and acute conditions affecting foot and lower limb function.
The role of the Chiropodist is to maintain and improve patient mobility, to alleviate foot pain, provide health education and thereby improving one's quality of life. The diverse range of services and conditions treated include: custom-made orthotics; custom-made orthopedic footwear; general foot care-corns, calluses, nails, heel, arch, forefoot, and knee pain; flat feet care; wart removal; ingrown toenails; athlete's foot and fungal nails; diabetic foot care including ulcers; arthritic foot care; sports injuries; and children's foot care.
